Who We Are

Trauma Practice for Healthy Communities offers free online clinician-led group programs and resources for trauma recovery, providing accessible and transformative care for individuals across Ontario.

Our Mission

Empower Individuals

Our clinicians promote health by providing individuals experiencing Psychological Trauma, PTSD, Compassion Fatigue, and related mental health disturbances with access to free information, group support, education and self-development programs.

Help Heal Communities

Our community-based approach combats the biggest threats to mental health and trauma recovery today—isolation and accessibility. We recognize and meet the needs of marginalized and vulnerable Ontarians falling through the cracks of an overburdened system.

Inspire Change

Trauma Practice is committed to reducing stigma and improving the conversation on trauma. We promote health and inclusion through education based on evidence, evaluation and research.

Our Vision

To make trauma recovery accessible for all.

Our Leadership

Dr. Anna Baranowsky is the Founder and President of the Board of Directors of Trauma Practice for Healthy Communities. Due to a severe lack of trauma service provision, and growing income inequalities, Dr. Baranowsky recognized that long wait times and lack of skilled care in the public system meant limited access for many individuals seeking trauma services. Trauma Practice for Healthy Communities was born through the mission of building a new way of healing communities through accessible, expert facilitated, and trauma-informed mental health care.

Dr. Baranowsky is a Clinical Psychologist and the current CEO of the Traumatology Institute. She has over 18 years of experience working with trauma survivors, and training professional care providers in this field nationally and internationally. More about Dr. Baranowsky +
